Steve Hebbe has been the chief of police for the Farmington Police Department since March 2014. Originally from Milwaukee, WI, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Education. Steve was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Wisconsin National Guard in 1987 from the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). Following graduation, he moved to Anchorage, AK and was hired by the Anchorage Police Department in December 1990. Steve served as a field training officer, crisis negotiator, and was twice elected vice president of the police union. He promoted to sergeant in August 2000 and lieutenant in March 2003. Steve served in a variety of roles including technical services commander, midnight shift commander and internal affairs commander. He attended the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command in 2006. In October 2011, he was promoted to deputy chief and eventually retired from APD in February of 2014
