Farmington’s Night Out
The Farmington Police Department, in conjunction with the Farmington Fire Department, City of Farmington, San Juan Safe Communities Initiative, San Juan Medical Foundation and San Juan County Kids will come together to take a stand against crime at the Pink the Police National Night Out 2015 event. This annual community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie in an effort to make neighborhoods a safer place to live. It enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
National Night Out events are typically held the first Tuesday in August. However, due to our community’s busy August schedule, we have decided to make our National Night Out a festive fall event. Activities and attractions will include a police pumpkin pick for kids, a pig cookie decorating station, K9 demonstrations, bicycle safety, recruiting tryouts for kids, rides, food vendors, face painting, music and more. And since this year’s theme is Pink the Police for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Farmington Chief of Police Steve Hebbe and his command staff will dye their hair pink during the event as part of a community fundraiser to benefit the Cathy Lincoln Memorial Cancer Fund. You can help us pink the chief by donating online at gofundme.com/pinkthechief. Additional opportunities to support the Get Pinked campaign during our NNO event will include Farmington Fire Department’s popular Get Pinked t-shirt sales, ring toss and 50/50 raffle sponsored by City of Farmington and a photo booth sponsored by Sycamore Park Community Center.
Come out and join in the fun on Saturday, October 10th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brookside Park.
