PRESS RELEASE: Farmington police investigating armed robbery

Farmington, NM – Farmington police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a home in Farmington earlier this week. Police were dispatched to a residence on Delhi Avenue on Tuesday around 10:15 p.m. in reference to an armed subject who had just left the area. The reporting party informed dispatch that his tenant was attacked by two males armed with a shotgun.

Officers arrived on scene and learned the tenant, a 34-year-old male, had met a woman through an online dating site. The two had messaged each other throughout the day and made plans to meet at his home on Delhi Avenue. The woman arrived at his home around 9:45 p.m. A while later someone knocked on the door, and the woman answered it. Two men entered the residence and attacked the tenant, hitting him in the face with a shotgun. The woman ran out the door when the two men came in. She took a pair of jeans containing the tenant’s wallet and keys. The tenant’s landlord heard the commotion and headed over to check on his tenant but ran into one of the men who then pointed a shotgun at him. The two men and the woman fled the area in a white older model Chevrolet four-door sedan. The tenant was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center for his injuries. The landlord did not sustain any injuries during the event.

PRESS RELEASE: Farmington police respond to armed robbery, 17-year-old suspect arrested

Farmington, NM – On Saturday, October 24 at approximately 2:26 a.m. Farmington police were dispatched to the Giant gas station located at 2603 E. 20th St in reference to an armed robbery. Officers contacted the two female employees who were present at the time of the incident. They learned that a male individual entered the store wearing an all-black costume and Scream mask. The man walked up to the counter, brandished a firearm and demanded money. He then fired a round over the employee’s head before running out of the store. The suspect left with approximately $70 in cash from the register.

On Tuesday, October 27, Farmington detectives received a tip regarding the suspect’s identity. Detectives made contact with the individual and took him to the station for questioning. The suspect, who has been identified as 17-year-old Jeremy Tryon of Farmington, was arrested and charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked in the San Juan County Juvenile Detention Center.

PRESS RELEASE: Farmington police respond to armed robbery, suspect taken into custody

Farmington, NM – Today, at approximately 10:50 a.m. Farmington police were dispatched to the Power Wash car wash located at 2348 E. 20th St in reference to an armed robbery. Police learned that a man entered the office, brandished a handgun and took the wallet and vehicle of a 96-year-old man. The suspect left the area and headed in an unknown direction. At approximately 11:05 a.m. an FPD corporal located the suspect at Bisti Highway and Murray Drive. The corporal followed the suspect but did not activate his emergency equipment. New Mexico State Police responded to the area to assist FPD. When they caught up with the suspect, he increased his speed. At this time, a pursuit was initiated because the suspect had committed an armed robbery with a gun and remained a danger to the community. The pursuit continued east on 7100 to 7100 and 7130 where the suspect stopped the vehicle. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Lorenzo Martinez of Farmington. State Police transported him to the San Juan County Detention Center where he will be booked on charges of armed robbery, aggravated fleeing, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and an outstanding felony warrant.
