PRESS RELEASE: Suspect in early morning homicide charged

Farmington, NM – Eagles Kassanavoid, 20 of Farmington, has been charged in connection with the death of 30-year-old Antonio Coochwikvia. Farmington police were dispatched around 3:29 this morning to an apartment complex located at 905 Walnut Dr. in reference to a stabbing. Officers arrived and found Coochwikvia outside the complex with an apparent stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Through investigation, officers were quickly able to identify Kassanavoid as the suspect. He was located several hours later at a residence in west Farmington and taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. Kassanavoid was booked into the San Juan County Detention Center on an open count of homicide, tampering with evidence and resisting and obstructing.
