PRESS RELEASE: Suspect in fatal shooting arrested

Farmington, NM – A Farmington man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that took place last Tuesday. Isiah Ontiveros, 18, turned himself in this morning around 10:45 at the Farmington Police Department.

Officers were dispatched around 6:48 p.m. on March 5 to the 300 block of North Monterey Ave. in reference to a possible shooting. When they arrived on scene, officers found local residents administering CPR to a gunshot victim, later identified as 31-year-old Nathaniel Tracy of Farmington. Tracy was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center by EMS and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Detectives, FPD Gang Unit investigators and crime scene investigators responded to the scene. Through investigation Ontiveros was identified as a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest for one open count of homicide and two counts of tampering with evidence. He was arrested on the warrant and booked into the San Juan County Detention Center.
