Farmington, NM – Detectives with the Farmington Police Department have charged 30-year-old Timothy Jaramillo of Farmington with armed robbery following a year-long investigation. The incident took place October 2 of last year in the parking lot of Animas Valley Mall. The victim in the case, a 59-year-old Farmington woman, was sitting in her vehicle near the Tilt exit when a man carrying a handgun walked up to the driver’s side door and demanded she get out of the car without her purse and phone and to not look back at him. The woman exited her vehicle and walked away. She then walked over to a nearby citizen and asked to use his phone to call police.
The vehicle was located on October 4, 2017 at a residence on East Murray Drive where Jaramillo had stayed the night. The vehicle was taken to the Farmington Police Department for processing and then released to the owner. Following a year-long investigation, the suspect was identified as Jaramillo. A warrant was issued for his arrest on September 16, 2018 for a charge of armed robbery. Jaramillo is currently incarcerated for a previous armed robbery that took place on September 16, 2017 in Farmington. The press release issued for that case may be found at http://bit.ly/2CSKLoG
