Phony bills are popping up in Farmington, and FPD is warning individuals and businesses to pay close attention when accepting cash. The fake bills being circulated are used in motion pictures, and while they look real at first glance, a closer look will reveal the bills are phony.

What to look for

• On the front of the bill under THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA it will read, THIS NOTE IS NOT LEGAL. IT IS TO BE USED FOR MOTION PICTURES.
• The treasurer’s name will read, This is Not a Treasurer.
• The secretary’s name will read, Not the Real Secretary.
