PRESS RELEASE: Farmington police respond to fatal traffic crash involving pedestrian, driver charged with first degree murder

Farmington, NM –  Yesterday Farmington police responded to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian. Officers were dispatched to West Apache near Gooding Drive around 8:25 p.m. Through investigation they learned 20-year-old Anthony Wagon hit 29-year-old Jeremy Beard of Farmington with his vehicle. The incident transpired following an argument at Beard’s residence between him, Wagon and another male. Beard left his residence in the El Rey Trailer Court on foot and headed westbound on Apache. Wagon drove his pickup truck from the residence and located Beard. Wagon drove over the curb and struck Beard with his vehicle in the area of 2310 W. Apache St. and then drove away. Beard succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The FPD Gang Unit responded to assist and located Wagon at his residence off Highway 371. He was transported to the station for questioning and subsequently arrested and charged with first degree murder. He is being held at the San Juan County Detention Center on a cash $500,000 bond.
