PRESS RELEASE: Two juveniles in custody for bomb threat at Mesa View Middle School

Farmington, NM – Two juveniles are in custody for the bomb threat that occured on Tuesday at Mesa View Middle School. Similar to the other incidents, a written threat was found on a wall in the boys’ restroom. The school was placed in a preventative lockdown until police completed a thorough search. No suspicious items were located. Through investigation, detectives were able to identify two 13-year-old male suspects. Both attend Mesa View Middle School. One has been charged with bomb scares, a fourth degree felony, and interference with the educational process, a petty misdemeanor. The second juvenile has been charged with conspiracy to commit bomb scares, a fourth degree felony. The students are being held at the San Juan County Juvenile Detention Center.

Farmington police are still investigating the other threats that occurred throughout the week. Anyone with information about the incidents should call San Juan County Crime Stoppers at (505) 334-TIPS. There is a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest.
