PSA: Farmington Police Department to offer motorcycle safety course

Farmington, NM – The Farmington Police Department’s Traffic Unit will be offering an advanced civilian motorcycle safety course. The course is designed to challenge riders, enhance safe riding skills and reduce motorcycle crashes.This is an advanced course for individuals who have been riding for a few years and desire updated training. Areas of focus will include proper braking, curve negotiation and collision avoidance. Studies have identified these areas as being critical to motorcycle safety. Previous attendees have credited this training with saving their lives. The two day course will be offered June 13 and 14 and August 8 and 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Classes are limited to 12 participants. There is no charge for the course. Participants will use their own motorcycle and must bring the following: DOT approved helmet, gloves, ankle-high boots, insurance and driver’s license with a motorcycle endorsement.
