On Monday, January 19 around 3:00 p.m. a gentleman and his elderly wife were shopping at Walmart on West Main. When they were finished, they returned to their vehicle and found that it wouldn’t start. Officer Steve Smith was in the area at the time and contacted the gentleman and his wife. The officer was able to help the couple get their vehicle started and sent them on their way. Later that evening, the gentleman contacted the shift supervisor and expressed his gratitude for the officer’s actions. The man shared that the officer “bent over backwards” to get he and his wife on their way safely.
