Farmington, NM – At approximately 2:23 a.m. Farmington police were dispatched to a single-vehicle traffic crash on Pinon Hills Boulevard. Officers on scene learned that a blue 2010 Hyundai passenger car was traveling eastbound on Pinon Hills. The vehicle was just east of College Boulevard when the driver lost control and crossed the median. The vehicle went off the road on the north side and rolled several times before coming to a stop. The driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Calvin Begay, sustained fatal injuries. The other two occupants, Patrick Smith and Gabriel Lovato both 22 years of age, were transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center. Both were reported to be in stable condition. Police believe that alcohol and speed were contributing factors to the crash.
