PRESS RELEASE: Farmington police apprehend shooting suspect

Farmington, NM – At approximately 1:29 a.m. today, Farmington police received an anonymous tip of the whereabouts of Thaddeus Carter. Carter is the suspect of a shooting that occurred on November 25 on Glade Lane. Officers arrived at the residence on Walnut Drive where the suspect was believed to be staying. They made contact with the occupants and were granted permission to search the premises using a K9. Police Service Dog Cas and the K9 officer searched the residence and located the suspect hiding in one of the rooms. The officer announced the K9’s presence and gave commands for him to come out. After several announcements, the suspect came out of hiding. Officers confirmed his identity as Thaddeus Carter and then transported him to the police station for questioning. Carter was arrested on a felony warrant and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, false imprisonment, aggravated battery against a household member and assault. He is being held at the San Juan County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
