PRESS RELEASE: Three Suspects Arrested for Commercial Burglary of Medical Marijuana Dispensary

Farmington, NM – On July 27 at approximately 12:31 a.m., Farmington police were dispatched to an alarm at the New Mexico Alternative Care facility (Medical Marijuana Dispensary) on Browning Parkway. Upon arrival, officers observed three individuals carrying backpacks, exiting the back of the building. The subjects ran and a foot pursuit ensued. A search to locate the suspects was conducted by two of FPD’s K9 units. Police Service Dog Cas located and apprehended one of the suspects. Additional officers responded to the area and located a second suspect. Bloomfield Police Department and the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the search. Sheriff’s deputies located a third suspect in the area of County Road 3000.

The suspects were found to be in possession of over 50 ounces of marijuana with an estimated value of approximately $17,000. Eighteen-year-old Alex Smith and two juveniles, both 17 years of age, were arrested and charged with commercial burglary, conspiracy to commit commercial burglary, felony possession of marijuana, and additional related charges.
